Who is Gabriel Bortoleto?

The 2025 Formula 1 season is rapidly approaching, and with that, there’s a new class of drivers. As a matter of fact, there are five new drivers coming to the grid- one of those being Gabriel Bortoleto.

For those asking, “Who exactly is Gabriel Bortoleto?” – we’ve got you covered. Here’s everything you need to know about Bortoleto, the third-youngest driver on the 2025 Formula 1 grid.

Who Is Gabriel Bortoleto?

Hailing from São Paulo, Brazil, Gabriel Bortoleto will race for Kick Sauber behind Nico Hulkenberg for the 2025 F1 season. Despite being the third youngest driver at the age of 20, Bortoleto still has plenty of experience. Before jumping to F1, Bortoleto had a successful career in Formula 3 and Formula 2, becoming one of only four drivers in history to win consecutive championships in both series.

During his time in F2, Bortoleto joined A14, Fernando Alonso’s driver development program. He also joined the McLaren Driver Development Programme and was closely linked to McLaren; however, due to the success of McLaren’s current F1 lineup, McLaren was reportedly willing to let Bortoleto join another F1 team, hence the move to Kick Sauber.

Bortoleto will look to continue his success in racing and kickstart Kick Sauber (pun fully intended), which finished last in the 2024 Constructor’s Standings and only managed four points throughout the entire 2024 season.
